Coffee to Wake the Dead - Te Atatu South

At the heart of Te Atatu, right on the main road, lies the original Anastasis coffee shop. What many people may not know is that this beloved establishment came to be completely by chance. Its founder, Hernan, had been driving all over West Auckland in his previous job and was disappointed that there were no quality coffee shops in the area. One day he stopped in and talked to the landlord and had the keys within 15 minutes of talking to him just based on a verbal agreement. From there, he set up shop and quit his former job to pursue his dream of owning a coffee shop. And so Anastasis was born - from sheer luck and determination on its founder's part. Now occupying an entire corner, this humble little cafe has become an integral part of the neighborhood's community and culture, popular with school parents and teachers.
